Maclean's film won a clutch of international prizes, and it's easy to see why.
The gorgeously disturbing Kitchen Sink really showcases the power of short film. Every frame of this polished black and white mini horror has an extraordinary intensity that would be impossible to sustain for the length of a feature. Gyro supplied the special effects for the film in the form of a creature that was pulled up through the sink plug hole, which during the film grew into a humanoid being. "We sculpted the creature in clay then took a casting of it using dental stone - a very hard plaster - then an armature was built that was embedd into the final rubber molding of the creature, this allowed us the ability to set the creature in different poses."
